CM Yogi Increases Anganwadi Workers' Honorarium to Rs 12,000

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a significant increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state on Tuesday. The honorarium for Anganwadi workers will increase from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000, while that for helpers will increase from Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000 per month.

The announcement was made at a felicitation ceremony for Anganwadi workers and helpers organized under the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) at Ayodhya Dham. Around 12,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers were present at the ceremony, while ministers, MPs, MLAs, and Anganwadi workers and helpers joined the programs organized in all 75 districts.

In addition to the increase in honorarium, CM Yogi also announced that Anganwadi workers, helpers, and their families will receive cashless treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh every year. They will also receive three sarees instead of two, with the state government bearing an additional burden of around Rs 20 crore.

The Chief Minister also announced plans to make Anganwadi centers smart through smartphones and real-time data. In the first phase, 1.28 lakh smartphones have been provided to Anganwadi workers, which will enable them to record data related to schemes in real-time and make their work easier.

The announcements were made ahead of Poshan Maah, which begins on September 9. CM Yogi stated that Anganwadi workers and helpers played a crucial role during the COVID-19 pandemic, risking their lives to serve infected people and screen people in villages.

The increase in honorarium is a significant improvement from the Rs 3,000 that Anganwadi workers received when the government was formed in 2017. The government had earlier increased the honorarium to Rs 8,000 and has now increased it further to Rs 12,000.

The cashless health facility of up to Rs 5 lakh every year will be available to Anganwadi workers, helpers, and their families at impanelled hospitals, government hospitals, and medical colleges. This facility was recently provided to around 15 lakh teachers, Shikshamitras, and instructors in the state.
