Ram Temple Trust Row Erupts Over Resignation Acceptance
Controversy deepens over Champat Rai's resignation, trust members disagree

A fresh controversy has erupted within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust over the acceptance of former general secretary Champat Rai's resignation. On Tuesday, trustee Mahant Dinendra Das claimed that a majority of trust members did not want Rai's resignation to be accepted.
According to Mahant Dinendra Das, the resignation was accepted at the instance of trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri, who played a key role in the process. Das alleged that a copy of the resignation letter submitted by Champat Rai was not placed before all members, raising questions about transparency.
The trust member Parasaran, who attended the meeting online, cited provisions of the trust deed and said that Champat Rai's resignation became effective automatically once it was submitted. Based on this interpretation, the resignation was accepted. However, Mahant Dinendra Das maintained that the procedure prescribed in the trust deed for accepting a resignation was not followed.
He said the process should have been transparent and all trust members should have been properly informed. The statement has brought to the fore deepening differences within the Ram temple trust, which is already facing scrutiny over the alleged theft of offerings and donations at the temple.
Trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri defended Champat Rai and said he did not believe the former general secretary had any direct or character-related connection with the alleged theft. Giri alleged that Champat Rai had employed a driver with a criminal background and entrusted him with keys and other responsibilities.
The driver controlled everything and was suspected to have links with outsiders, Giri said. He also announced that a CEO would soon be appointed to the trust's administrative structure, citing the absence of a chief executive officer as a contributing factor to the situation.
Meanwhile, newly appointed general secretary Krishna Mohan Das formally took charge on Tuesday. In a related development, the Faizabad Anti-Corruption Court granted one-day police remand of three accused in connection with the alleged theft case.
The police had sought seven days' custody, and investigators are expected to bring the accused from jail on Wednesday morning for questioning. Even after stepping down from the temple trust, Champat Rai will continue as international vice president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad.
The controversy surrounding the Ram temple trust is likely to have significant implications for the trust's reputation and its ability to manage the temple's affairs. The trust's internal conflicts and allegations of theft and mismanagement have raised concerns among devotees and the general public.
As the investigation into the alleged theft continues, the trust's members and officials will be under close scrutiny. The appointment of a new CEO and the newly appointed general secretary Krishna Mohan Das are expected to bring some stability to the trust's administrative structure.
However, the trust's internal conflicts and allegations of mismanagement will need to be addressed to restore the trust's reputation and ensure the smooth functioning of the temple's affairs. The controversy surrounding the Ram temple trust is a developing story, and further updates are expected in the coming days.
The trust's ability to manage the temple's affairs and its reputation will depend on its ability to address the internal conflicts and allegations of mismanagement. The trust's members and officials will need to work together to restore the trust's reputation and ensure the smooth functioning of the temple's affairs.
